Setting CZs - A Free Tutorial

Occasionally I am asked how I set CZs in the beads, so I decided to do a free tutorial. There are different ways to do this, gluing them to the end of mandrels for example, but that means you have to be prepared. (So not me!!)

I have posted a link to the right under "Free Tutorials". I hope you find this helpful!

In The Pink!

I found some "new" old glass that I had stashed away and forgotten. The top two beads are made with Opal Raspberry, a pink unlike anything Moretti offers. I combined it with Magenta dichro, silver fumed ivory, murrini and CZs. The last one is a familiar, but favorite, color combination of ink blue and sage green on silvered ivory.
Thanks for looking, and I hope you have a great week!

Here's A FUN One!

nfs

My friend and torch buddy, Samma Parcels, challenged me to make a bead using red, purple and green. Talk about FUNKY, and totally outside of my norm!! I pulled some murrini and matching cane, pulled out the orange and purple dichro and just started layering the glass.

I heavily encased the murrini, and then created a window. They really look like they are floating. Then I added surface murrini, CZ's and dots here and there. This bead has a lot going on. I need to think outside of the box more often. Thanks Miss Samma, I'm ready for the next challenge!

Sunday Kiln Harvest

sold

Today is Superbowl Sunday!! GOOOOO COLTS!!! We are going to a Superbowl party to watch the game, and I bet it will get LOUD! LOL If you watch the game, please root for our boys :)

Here are a few beads from yesterday. I started out on a mission...to make bead sets. Wow, it is hard to scale it down!! It's going to take some practice. I made a few barrels, a few bumpy rounds...but the focals just seem to be what I enjoy making the most. I love adding more, decorating, designing...there is not much of a canvas on the small beads. I'm torching again this afternoon for a few hours, and will try it again.

I had a few requests for orange and/or red beads, two colors that I don't play with much. I gave it a try yesterday, making matching murrini (which I heavily encased) and micro cane, and I kind of like it.
I really like the heavily encased murrini, and will play with that a bit more today.

We are expecting another round of snow on Tuesday, with an accumulation of about six inches. I love this white stuff, but i'm soooo ready for spring!!!

Have a great week, and thanks for looking!!
