Beads from Yesterday

I had the opportunity to torch a bit yesterday. Above are two beads out of the kiln this morning. The first bead is much prettier in person, and offers ink blue and sage green, touches of white and brown, wrapped in a ribbon cane down each side. The second one is a familiar style for me, just a bit on the "funkier" side. It truly glows, with the bold dichro peeking through the surface decorations.
I went to breakfast this morning with Steve, and now must get the kiln and torches fired up for a play day with Samma! We always have great torch days, being very productive while chatting and laughing the day away :)
Have a great weekend everyone!!

Yesterday was a Happy Friday indeed! My friends Fran and Chic came over to play at the torch, and we had so much fun! Here is one out of the kiln this morning....again, playing with Ekho.

Dichro Focals

I actually made it to the torch after work yesterday....a short session, but it was fun, relaxing and I put two in the kiln. Mornings are so much nicer when there is a kiln harvest! Here are two focals with surface decorations allowing the dichro cores to shine through.
The top bead really glows with the red dichro glowing from beneath...it really looks molten. The second bead sparkles with silver on one side, and emerald green on the other side.

A Weekend at the Torch

I have a fun filled weekend planned, spending much of it at the torch. I have a lot of catching up to do in the studio. I have had several requests for leaf beads, which I make this weekend. Next week I will get them painted and put in the solution. Thank you for your interest!!

Tonight the Colts are playing...GO COLTS!! I really don't follow football, but I always root for the home team! We are going over to my brother's house for football and fried food...maybe even a little wine sipping...(ssshhhhh!) If there is a lot of wine sipping....maybe even some karaoke!! LOL

It is MAN CAMP weekend here at the Atchison homestead. Steve is ice fishing today, and tomorrow with my brother. They usually do very well, and I'm looking forward to some crapi and perch for dinner next week. He catches, cleans and cooks them, so I can just show up for dinner :)

I am soooo over winter, and have been anticipating spring in the studio. Above are a few beads from yesterday's kiln harvest. My friend Dawn came over and we spent the day just playing. I love my Friday playdays....they are good for the soul!

Besides making leaf beads this weekend, I am going to make small bead sets to match the focals. Wish me luck!! After working so big, for so long, it is going to be hard to scale down on size. It's difficult for me with such a small canvas. Hopefully I will have some sets to list soon.

Enough of my rambling!! Have a great weekend, and don't forget to root for the COLTS!!!

As always, thanks for looking!!

I need to hide the Ekho...lately, it's what I pick up everytime I torch. I find it very fascinating with all the colors it will produce. I'm having a blast with it, and I find that I do better when I "play" and just have fun. Hopefully I won't bore anyone while I get it out of my system! Above are beads from yesterday.

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend, and staying warm!

First Beads of the Happy New Year!!

My friend Robin Koza came over yesterday for a play-day at the torch. It was a lot of FUN ~ we played with silvered glass (beads above). The first one is Silver Brown and Dark Ivory, and I really like the colors achieved. The second bead is Ekho and Dark Ivory. The last bead is Terra Nova 2 and ???, and I'm sure that I did not work the glass correctly, as it turned out WAY dark. Back to the drawing board with that color!!
Happy New Year, and as always, thanks for looking!!
